I love this effect! Layer 3 pieces of card of increasing sizes, stamp them then mat each one individually and layer.

I think I started making cards after buying a few card making magazines in a craft shop sale. They all had papers in the middle and off I went!

Precision engineering!

I saw this next picture and loved the simple look of the card, yet so effective. Thought it would be a great boys card.

Love the bright colours of this. The papers were from a circus themed magazine insert but I think they work well here. And I love the font, which continues inside the card.

Triptych

I really wanted to create something similar to this, using one stamp to create three panels but didn't have the right colour cardstock! So I decided to use the same kind of idea and white embossed the same stamp at different positions to create three panels. As always I am disappointed with my inability to create a straight line but I love the overall look of this card. So simple but very effective.

Doily and butterfly card

I love the stamped doily on this card, and the pearl flourish.

My attempt to create something similar: 

The colours don't show up terribly well on the picture but I have stamped my doily with a similar script background, slightly inked the doily so it's not quite so bright white. I will add a sentiment at a later date. Very pleased with this attempt!

Masculine card attempt

This was the inspiration for my next post:

I like the masculine look of the card and thought it would be good for my step-dad or my grandad. Men's cards are always difficult! I am quite pleased with the finished product although I think it needs something to lift it a bit... maybe some subtle gems. Suggestions anyone??

This first picture was my inspiration. Things I love about this card are the doily, the distressed vintage look, the use of pearls and the really feminine colours. I had some beautiful vintage toppers which I thought I could make use of to create a similar look.

I used some antique ledger paper for the backing, distressed my doily with broken china distress ink using a brush. I had some lace to layer the topper on and some matching paper flowers. I embellished with a strip of pearls down the side of the card and some on the topper, and card candi on the flowers, finishing off with some glitter glue.

As usual the card is not what I had in mind when I started out but it has ended up being a card I'm really pleased with. I particularly like the green colouring. I'd like to add a sentiment somewhere but think it might make the end result look cluttered.
